Postnatal Pilates is a gentle, progressive, route back to exercise that addresses common issues following pregnancy and child birth.
All exercises are carefully chosen to target specific areas, such as pelvic floor function and deep abdominal training. Learning to activate these deep core muscles is an important part of recovery, preventing urinary incontinence and addressing any separation of the abdominal muscles (diastasis recti).
The Pilates method further corrects postural imbalances, joint instability caused by pregnancy hormones, and promotes efficient easy movement. With regular practice you can build a great foundation on which to return to full fitness and regular exercise.
The classes provide a baby friendly environment where you can stop to attend to your baby at anytime. They are also a great opportunity to meet other new mums.
All mats and small equipment are provided for mums, but please bring something for your baby to lie on.
Group classes are kept to a maximum of 10 to allow for individual attention and exercise progression. You can join at anytime providing you are at least 6 weeks postnatal or 10 weeks if delivery was via c-section.
This class is taught by Leanne of Mind Body Pilates.
